The Influence of Atlas Therapy on Tinnitus.
نویسنده
چکیده
We present questions and thoughts of an outsider on the proprioceptive input of the posterior small cervical muscles to the brainstem as a source of tinnitus. After treatment of whiplash injuries and other muscular conditions with Arlen's atlas therapy, some patients reported that their tinnitus had abated with the muscular tensions. Atlas therapy has been proven to slacken the muscles and seems to quiet to normal levels afferent impulses to the brainstem. This has been proven to apply to nystagmus. We sought to determine whether it has the same effect on some forms of tinnitus.

The Long-term Effect of Neurofeedback Therapy as Adjuvant Therapy on the Management of Tinnitus: A Prospective Clinical Trial
Background: Recently, various studies have been performed to examine the effect of neurofeedback on treating tinnitus. However, these studies reported different results. In this process, the nervous activity of the patient is evaluated. For example, the aspects associated with brain processes are extracted through temporal processing signs, and then auditory or visual feedback is given to t...

Introduction: We investigated the effect of intratympanic dexamethasone on control of tinnitus and hearing loss in patients with Meniere’s disease. Materials and Methods: 100 consecutive patients with a diagnosis of Meniere’s disease according to the 1995 criteria of The American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery (AAO–HNS) who remained symptomatic despite medical therapy were a...
متن کاملEvaluation of Distortion and Transient Evoked Otoacoustic Emission in Tinnitus Patients with Normal Hearing
Introduction: Tinnitus is a perception of sound without external source. The exact etiology of tinnitus is not fully understood, although some researchers believe that the condition usually starts in the cochlea. The aim of this study was to determine the potential contribution of outer hair cell dysfunction to chronic tinnitus, by application of Distortion-Product Evoked Otoacoustic Emission (...
متن کاملSource Space Estimation of Oscillatory Power and Brain Connectivity in Tinnitus
Tinnitus is the perception of an internally generated sound that is postulated to emerge as a result of structural and functional changes in the brain. However, the precise pathophysiology of tinnitus remains unknown. Llinas' thalamocortical dysrhythmia model suggests that neural deafferentation due to hearing loss causes a dysregulation of coherent activity between thalamus and auditory cortex...

Objective: The aim of this study was to find out the prevalence of hypozincemia in patients suffering from Tinnitus and to investigate the effect of Zinc therapy upon the severity of Tinnitus. Material and Methods: We studied 66 who suffered from tinnitus, which were randomized to two groups according to the zinc level including < 50μg/dl and > 50μg /dl groups. The zinc level was measured in n...
